In theater anti-access area denial operations, friendly strike fighters project combat reach outward from their airbase, extending further with refueling tanker support. Adversary ballistic missile batteries project overlapping threat rings that compress friendly operating space, weighted in this model by the threat saturation percentage. A forward base is flagged isolated when it lies inside missile range and beyond seventy-five percent of unrefueled air reach. Here, FOB Alpha becomes vulnerable. In the simulator, dragging the threat saturation slider or adjusting air asset radiuses immediately updates air coverage, response time, and the tactical isolation index.
What does a visible circle establish, and what do the headline numbers actually represent?
This page combines authored scenario inputs, circular map overlays and illustrative summary scores. Use it to understand the distinction between a map layer and a model assumption. It does not establish current deployments, measured capabilities or verified operational conditions.
The default headline values are explicitly forced to a fixture when the five initial slider settings match. Outside that fixture, coverage is an authored weighted-radius formula with bounds, not a measured fraction of map area. The isolation index is an authored bounded score, not a calibrated probability. These outputs should not be treated as operational evidence.
With the default scenario loaded, note the 42.5% coverage label and 0.68 isolation index. Turn off Missile Threat Envelopes (Red). The red circles disappear, while those two labels remain unchanged. This checkbox controls display, not the calculation inputs; hiding a layer does not remove its underlying assumptions.
Leaflet circle overlays draw a geographic radius in metres. The API reference explains that the rendered circle is an approximation affected by projection distortion, especially near the poles. A circle depicts the supplied radius; the mapping library does not verify the scenario label or the validity of that radius. Leaflet 1.9.4: circle overlays and radius units
Export Report records the pageโs current scenario and computed labels as JSON. Preserve that file with a note that the inputs and scores are illustrative. An exported object is a record of this model state, not independent validation of its claims.
Documents map rendering and projection limitations; it does not validate the scenario or its scores.
