Academy Provenance

Founded in 1979 at an ancient Catalan farmhouse, La Masia produced the golden generation that powered Spain's World Cup triumph and Barcelona's legendary sextuple under Pep Guardiola.

Lineup averages, chemistry rules and reset limits

Read the explanation

This saved academy lineup uses representative ratings and values, not current market measurements or a verified football prediction. Its initial eleven ratings sum to nine hundred ninety two. Dividing by eleven gives ninety point two when displayed to one decimal. Select the striker slot and substitute the saved bench midfielder rated eighty nine for the striker rated eighty two. The sum increases by seven to nine hundred ninety nine, and the displayed average becomes ninety point eight. The bars use half a pixel per summed rating point, so four hundred ninety six becomes four hundred ninety nine point five. A seven point player change only changes an eleven player average by seven divided by eleven. The displayed chemistry is also a code rule. Barcelona starts from ninety eight, then adds the rounded difference between the displayed average and ninety, clipped between eighty two and one hundred. Ninety point two rounds to a zero adjustment, giving ninety eight. Ninety point eight gives an adjustment of one, giving ninety nine. At four pixels per chemistry unit the bars are three hundred ninety two and three hundred ninety six. The selected striker slot keeps its role and coordinates even when a midfielder is placed there; the formula applies no positional suitability penalty. The saved total value rises from eleven hundred twenty to eleven hundred thirty million, both formatted as one point one two and one point one three billion. None of these labels validates sporting cohesion. Reset reloads the starting eleven for the current club and formation. However, substitution has already mutated the bench pool of that club: the previous striker replaces the midfielder on the bench. Reset does not restore that pool, so a player can appear in both the reset eleven and the bench. The diagram counts eleven pitch entries and nine bench entries, at twenty pixels per entry, two hundred twenty and one hundred eighty pixels. Formation changes reload predefined coordinates rather than simulating tactics, and filters only change which bench entries are displayed. The native export draws a nine hundred by six hundred canvas and downloads its PNG. This local video preserves the original behavior, including the reset limitation, without treating fixture history, valuations or tactical labels as verified facts.

Tactical Squad Rating and Chemistry Mechanics

How does the lineup builder compute squad rating, team chemistry, and aggregate peak valuation?

This tactical board models historical starting elevens from iconic academies across 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 formations. The engine sums the peak ratings and estimated valuations of the 11 active pitch slots, displaying an arithmetic mean rating and total squad market value. Team chemistry applies club-specific baseline constants (98 for Barcelona, 95 for Ajax, 93 for Manchester United) modified by how far the squad's average rating deviates from 90, clamped between 82 and 100.

Individual player peak ratings and peak market valuations are illustrative editorial assumptions rather than official FIFA, EA Sports, or Transfermarkt figures. Team chemistry uses club baseline presets and average rating offsets rather than a positional chemistry network, spatial link lines, or actual tactical synergy metrics.

Try a worked example

Switch the club selector from Barcelona (La Masia) to Ajax (De Toekomst) under the default 4-3-3 formation. The starting eleven updates to eleven Ajax graduates whose individual ratings total 995, producing an average rating of 90.5. Because 90.5 minus 90 rounds to a variance of +1, the Ajax baseline chemistry of 95 increases to 96. Simultaneously, summing the 11 peak player values yields €1,020M, which the HUD formats as €1.02B.

Squad Rating and Valuation Aggregation

Every player object in the lineup database defines an integer peak rating and a peak market value in millions of euros (valM). The updateHUD function sums the ratings of the eleven currently active slots and formats the arithmetic mean to one decimal place. Total market value sums the valuations: squads totaling at least €1,000M are formatted in billions (such as €1.02B or €1.12B), while sums below €1,000M display directly in millions.

Chemistry Heuristic Model

Rather than calculating tactical link chemistry between adjacent positions on the pitch, the engine assigns each academy a static baseline: 98 for Barcelona, 95 for Ajax, and 93 for Manchester United. It then calculates a rating variance by rounding the difference between the average squad rating and 90, adding this variance to the club baseline and clamping the result between 82 and 100.
