How does this tool estimate billboard impressions, reach multipliers, and rating points across Los Angeles corridors?
This mock campaign studio couples an interactive canvas renderer with a simplified media-planning calculator. It uses fixed corridor presets for Daily Effective Circulation (DEC), Cost Per Thousand (CPM), and weekly Gross Rating Points (GRP). Total reach is computed by multiplying DEC by flight duration in days, and then applying a discrete viral multiplier from 1.0x to 4.8x based on selected meme or paparazzi intensity.
The calculations in this studio are educational heuristics, not audited media metrics from industry rating bodies such as Geopath. The viral amplification levels (1.0x, 1.4x, 2.2x, 3.4x, 4.8x) are illustrative multipliers rather than empirical social platform measurements. The corridor circulation values, dwell times, and cost-per-thousand numbers represent static demo constants rather than real-time Los Angeles traffic telemetry.
Select the 'Shaq x Shake Shack' preset button. The script updates the corridor to the I-405 Sepulveda Pass Bulletin, setting Daily Circulation (DEC) to 340,000, CPM to $12.20, and baseline GRP to 142.0 per week. Over the default 14-day flight, raw corridor circulation equals 4,760,000 impressions. With the buzz slider at level 4 (a 3.4x multiplier), the calculated total reach expands to 16.18M.
The page calculates base exposure by taking the selected corridor's assigned daily effective circulation (DEC) and multiplying it by the flight duration in days. For the default Sunset Strip corridor with a DEC of 185,000 across 14 days, base physical impressions equal 2,590,000.
Viral amplification is implemented through an indexed array corresponding to the five buzz slider steps: 1.0x for Subtle, 1.4x for Moderate, 2.2x for Active Buzz, 3.4x for Viral, and 4.8x for Global Trend. The script calculates total reach as base exposure multiplied by the viral factor, and scales weekly GRP linearly by flight duration divided by 7 days.
The saved demonstration starts with assumed daily circulation one hundred eighty five thousand and fourteen days, producing two million five hundred ninety thousand raw impressions. Default buzz level four selects multiplier three point four, producing eight million eight hundred six thousand total modeled impressions. Bars use point zero zero zero zero four five pixels per impression. The visible initial two point five nine million is replaced when update runs. Reach here is an impression total, not deduplicated people. The source multipliers and corridor estimates are unverified assumptions; this does not establish an actual celebrity advertising campaign. Gross rating points are computed separately from viral amplification. The saved Sunset corridor rating eighty four point five is multiplied by duration divided by seven. Seven days returns eighty four point five, fourteen days returns one hundred sixty nine. The bars use two pixels per rating point. Changing buzz does not enter this equation. The displayed CPM eighteen point four is a stored corridor value; no campaign spend or budget formula is calculated. These outputs describe the demo assumptions rather than independently measured media economics. Buzz levels select the five stored multipliers one, one point four, two point two, three point four, and four point eight. Going from four to five changes the default total from eight million eight hundred six thousand to twelve million four hundred thirty two thousand impressions. These bars use seventy five pixels per multiplier. That jump is a lookup assumption, not measured celebrity causality. Editing names, branding, format and lighting changes the billboard artwork, while reach arithmetic reads corridor, duration and buzz. PNG exports that local canvas; JSON exports assumptions and derived metrics. The offline map fallback retains direct corridor controls but does not prove live map behavior.
