Preorder discount and the separate trade-in assumption

Read the explanation

The saved preorder calculator starts with an entered one hundred seventy-nine-dollar list price and one hundred fifty-nine-dollar preorder price. Their difference is twenty dollars. Dividing that by list price gives about eleven point one seven percent before display rounding. The two bars use two point five pixels per dollar to compare those entered amounts. Product names and prices are saved fixtures, not verified launch information, current offers or endorsements. No retailer checkout, tax, shipping, eligibility or warranty is checked by these equations. The program caps a preorder value above MSRP before computing savings, so it models no negative discount. The assumed thirty-dollar trade-in credit reduces the entered preorder price from one hundred fifty-nine to one hundred twenty-nine dollars. Bars compare before and after credit at three pixels per dollar. The source computes its percentage discount using MSRP minus preorder, not MSRP minus net cost. As a result, changing trade-in changes effective outlay without changing that discount percentage. Credit is treated as immediate cash despite no assessment of device condition, approval, eligibility or redemption timing. Net cost is clamped at zero when credit exceeds preorder. This is transparent source arithmetic under entered assumptions, not a guarantee that any promotion or trade-in will be accepted. The saved default benchmark is eleven point two percent. The program calls a discount a great early deal whenever its gap from the benchmark is less than one tenth of a percentage point in absolute value. The computed eleven point one seven lies inside that band. The bars show the actual calculation and benchmark at forty pixels per percentage point. A higher gap becomes an excellent-savings label; a lower positive discount outside the band becomes modest. Those words are authored thresholds, not historical-market validation. The Pro preset changes list price to two hundred forty-nine, preorder to one hundred ninety-nine and assumed credit to forty-five, yielding fifty dollars gross savings and one hundred fifty-four net cost. Native export preserves the complete original result.
