Rather than looking merely at exterior systemic constraints, this twelve-track suite confronts self-mythologizing, romanticized ruin, classical hero complexes, and the fragile vulnerability of art history.
The album borrows its namesake from Aristotle’s tragic doctrine—the fatal oversight or noble instinct that precipitates a hero’s undoing. On tracks like Pyrrhus (You Go Where I Cannot) and Silhouette on the Hill, Paloma maps ancient Hellenic grief onto domestic dissolution.
From the brooding color-field meditations of Rothko to the pre-Raphaelite aesthetic gaze of Pre-Raphaelite and the tearful overwhelm in I Cry in Front of Paintings, Paloma employs visual fine art as an emotional lexicon for what language cannot articulate.
Across Stem the Flow and Get Her the F***ing Flowers, natural flora is juxtaposed with visceral bodily sacrifice. The album’s production pairs acoustic folk fingerpicking with swelling string layers, dark percussion, and layered vocal choirs.
