How your reading stack becomes a schedule

Read the explanation

This curator builds a reading plan from its local sample catalog. Its titles and publication claims are not independently verified here. The calculation itself is simple: add the pages of selected books, divide by your chosen pages per day, and round up. Changing a genre filter changes the visible catalog, while adding or removing a book changes the actual reading stack. The default stack contains three source entries: three hundred eighty four, three hundred twenty, and four hundred sixteen pages. Their total is eleven hundred twenty. These colored pieces represent each entry’s contribution to the total. Reordering the same three books changes reading order but does not change that sum. The estimate assumes every listed page has the same reading cost. At sixty pages a day, eleven hundred twenty divided by sixty is eighteen point six seven days. Eighteen full days account for ten hundred eighty pages, leaving forty pages for a nineteenth day. That is why the interface rounds upward to nineteen, rather than reporting eighteen. The completion date is computed from the browser’s current date plus that integer estimate. Keep the stack fixed and choose ninety pages per day. Eleven hundred twenty divided by ninety is twelve point four four, so the estimate falls to thirteen days. Choosing forty pages per day instead gives twenty eight days. Those changes come entirely from the assumed daily pace; the books and page total remain the same. There is no measured reading-speed model behind these choices. Add the source’s two hundred eighty eight page Pumpkin Hollow entry to the default stack. The total becomes fourteen hundred eight, and at sixty pages per day the rounded estimate becomes twenty four days. Export the journal to inspect selected entries, pace and notes, or export the drawn card. These are plans based on assumptions, not guaranteed completion dates. Reset returns the selected book fixture but does not reset the chosen reading pace.
