1.43:1 vs 1.90:1 vs 2.39:1

Standard Scope (2.39:1) letterboxes heavily on tall screens. When a director opens the frame to 1.43:1 in a GT dual-laser or 15/70mm venue, viewers receive up to 67% more visual image area, expanding vertically to fill peripheral vision.

SMPTE & THX FOV Standards

SMPTE EG-18 recommends a minimum 30° horizontal field-of-view, while THX certified auditoriums aim for 36° to 40°. True IMAX venues target 60° to 70° FOV from the reference sweet spot, engaging human peripheral motion cues.
