Real assistance

  • Use Burning Man’s official emergency-help guidance for assistance and current procedures.
  • The organizer identifies ESD/Rampart at 5:15 and Esplanade. The stations and paths drawn here are model fixtures.
  • This page sends no call, location, incident report or dispatch request.

Medical boundary

  • Incident categories select descriptive text; this tool performs no patient assessment.
  • The 12-minute stabilization allowance is fixed, not a clinical protocol or expected treatment duration.
  • The 60-minute comparison bar is an authored visual scale. Its colors do not establish severity, prognosis or a treatment deadline.

Transport boundary

  • Visibility selects a program branch; it does not evaluate weather minima or aviation clearance.
  • The Reno destination is illustrative. Current receiving capability, suitability and acceptance are not checked.
  • The fixed air and ground leg durations do not inspect aircraft, road conditions, crews or actual availability.

Separate scenario timing from emergency response

Does this timer show when a real ambulance or aircraft will arrive?

No. This is an authored map-and-timing scenario. It selects a nearby drawn station, applies fixed distance divisors and weather multipliers, then overrides some outputs at its default address. There is no dispatch connection or live vehicle, crew, airfield or weather feed.

Do not use the displayed pathway, timing or flight status to make medical or aviation decisions. Real care and transport require qualified responders. Use the organizer’s official emergency-help guidance for current contacts and procedures.

Try a worked example

The default components are 4.2 minutes to scene, 7.5 to Rampart, 12 for stabilization and 36 for flight. They sum to 59.7 minutes, about 60 when rounded. The program instead forces its default flyable-address total to 48 minutes. That special value is a fixture, not a measured end-to-end ETA.

Inspect the weather and temperature rules

The 10:15/K address overrides Rampart transit to 7.5 regardless of gate or visibility inputs. At that address and 104°F it also overrides on-scene timing to 4.2. The temperature modifier is calculated but not used in those timing equations. Changing an input may therefore leave a default output unchanged.

The whiteout option selects the ground branch; all other visibility options enable the flight branch. This switch does not evaluate cloud ceiling, pilot approval, aircraft availability or actual operating restrictions. Its statuses describe program branches, not flight clearance.

Use the real emergency-service source
