What This Exercise Establishes

  • ▸ Historical target: Marvel’s 2022 SDCC recap listed November 3, 2023. This is a dated announcement, not a current release date.
  • ▸ Inputs: Departure and rewrite counts are chosen scenario values, not a verified production ledger.
  • ▸ Timeline: Bundled milestone dates are an unchecked case-study chronology. Clicks inspect event weights without changing the computed score.
  • ▸ Limits: No current cast commitments, production start, budget or release date are verified by this tool.

Separate a release announcement from a delay model

Does 42 months mean Blade was delayed by exactly 42 months?

No. This exercise assigns months to scenario inputs and overrides its baseline with fixed values. It neither subtracts two release dates nor measures production downtime, actual costs or creative quality.

No production ledger, accounting statement, script, critical-path schedule or current release announcement is loaded. Dates and narrative titles in the bundled timeline are unchecked case-study records. A high-delay band is not a studio postponement announcement; the score is not a probability or measure of filmmaking quality.

Try a worked example

Baseline is 2 departures, 5 rewrites and both toggles: the special override displays 42 months, 1.8× and 24/100. Turn off the creative-reboot toggle: the additive formula gives 2×10 + (5−1)×3 + 7 = 39 months; cost is 1 + 2×0.25 + 4×0.08 + 0.12 = 1.94, displayed as 1.9×; stability is 100−48−24−8 = 20. This difference includes switching off the override, not just subtracting the reboot coefficient.

Use announcements with their dates

Marvel’s SDCC 2022 recap announced a November 3, 2023 target for Blade. It documents what was announced then; it cannot establish a present release date or explain why later plans changed. This exercise uses that historical target only as context. Marvel: SDCC 2022 recap

Do not merge different strikes into a measured freeze

The WGA strike began May 2, 2023. SAG-AFTRA’s strike order took effect July 14; its November 9 message describes 118 days on strike. These are distinct, overlapping labor events. They do not prove this film lost seven months, and adding durations would double-count overlap. The toggle’s seven-month value is an authored assumption. WGA: May 2023 strike notice SAG-AFTRA: July 2023 strike order SAG-AFTRA: November 9 message

Know the rule and its discontinuity

Outside the baseline override, each departure adds 10 months, 0.25 cost units and subtracts 24 stability points. Each rewrite after the first adds 3 months, 0.08 cost units and subtracts 6 points. Strike and reboot toggles add their chosen terms. Stability is clipped to 8–95 and cost rounded to one decimal. The ordinary formula at baseline would yield 44 months, 2.1× and 8/100; the fixed override replaces those results. Do not infer smooth sensitivity at that preset.

Inspect, compare and export

Click a milestone to read its annotation; event weights do not enter the score equation. Reset before comparing one changed input. JSON exports the current assumptions, authored scores and override disclosure, not milestone history or a production forecast. Check a dated official announcement separately before planning around a release date.
