How Kick Slide Depth Affects the High Side vs Inside Spin
Over-setting too deep gives the edge rusher an easy inside counter into the B-gap right to the quarterback. Under-setting allows the rusher to corner around your outside hip (the "ghost dip" or bend). Finding the intersection point at 4.0 to 4.5 yards is the golden ratio.
Independent Hands vs Two-Hand Punch
Throwing both hands at once locks the tackle's hips and makes them vulnerable to a swipe-and-rip or chop. Striking with an outside stab first allows the tackle to measure distance, maintain balance, and save the inside punch to anchor against a power bull rush.
Recognizing the T/E Stunt (Twist)
When the edge rusher slants hard inside into the offensive guard, do not chase him into the wash. Keep your eyes up for the defensive tackle looping around into your blindside C-gap. Pass off the inside crasher and pick up the looper.
