The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) rules state that Effective Striking/Grappling shall be the very first consideration:
1. Effective Striking & Grappling: Legal strikes that have immediate or cumulative impact with the potential to contribute towards the end of the bout. Takedowns, submissions, and reversals that threaten finish or establish dominant attacking position.
2. Effective Aggressiveness: Attempting to finish the fight. Only evaluated if Effective Striking/Grappling is deemed 100% equal.
3. Fighting Area Control: Dictating pace, place, and position in the cage. Only evaluated if the first two criteria are completely equal.
10-Point Must Scoring Breakdown
10 - 9 Round: Close margin where one fighter wins by a slight margin or controls the round through striking impact or active grappling.
10 - 8 Round: When a fighter wins by a large margin; demonstrates damage, dominance, and duration of attacking impact throughout the 5 minutes.
10 - 7 Round: Total overwhelm where a fighter completely dominates with near-stoppage damage and unchallenged control.
