Classic 1983 Arcade Bump Studio

40 years ago, arcade gaming pioneered underside platform collision, floor ripples, flip-stun states, and screen wrapping. Steer the runner, hit platforms from below to knock pests onto their shells, tap the POW block, and tweak real-time physical constants.

Underside Platform Impact

Unlike later games where stomping enemies from above is the primary attack, the 1983 engine requires striking the rigid ceiling underneath an adversary. The impulse creates an upward sinusoidal flex that inverts the enemy's vertical velocity and initiates a stun state.

Toroidal Screen Wrapping

Walking off the left boundary of the screen wraps the player and enemies seamlessly to the right boundary with momentum preserved. This eliminates corner traps and demands high spatial awareness as enemies flank from unexpected sides.

The POW Block Dynamic

Positioned in the lower tier, the finite POW block produces an instant global ground shock. Any enemy in contact with any floor tile is flipped instantly. In competitive or co-op play, mistiming a POW strike could turn a rescue into a teammate's demise.
