Official Engadget Field Guide: How to Edit Claude's Real Memory

As covered by Engadget, Anthropic's Claude stores user preferences and past project constraints across chats. If Claude starts hallucinating obsolete parameters, use this quick checklist:

1. Open Claude Settings

Click your user profile avatar in the bottom left corner of the Claude web UI, then select Settings.

2. Navigate to Capabilities / Memory

Under the Capabilities tab, look for Memory. Here Anthropic lists every fact Claude has extracted across conversations.

3. Edit or Delete Individual Memories

Hover over outdated tech requirements or expired constraints and click the Trash icon or edit them directly so past projects don't taint future chats.

4. Clear Memory Completely

For a clean slate between jobs, use Clear All Memories to reset Claude's latent profile back to zero-shot purity.
