COMEDK Seat Holding & Surrender Rules
Round 1 & 2 "Accept & Upgrade": Candidates can hold a confirmed seat while seeking higher priority options without immediate full penalty.
Round 3 Surrender Window Cliff: Candidates who surrender post-Round 3 forfeit tuition fees or face processing deduction. Many surrender late after securing KCET/JoSAA seats.
Institutional Management Conversion: Under standard rules, when COMEDK concludes after Round 4, unallocated merit seats do not lapse back to CET; colleges convert them into direct Management Quota seats.
Student Advocacy Note: Conducting a centralized Round 5 Spot Allotment recovers up to 90% of vacant seats for merit candidates at regular COMEDK fee structures (~₹2.6L/year) instead of exorbitant MQ donation rates (₹15L–₹35L).
