Read the local rules before the channel strategy
Reddit communities and private groups can have different rules about promotion, links and research. Read the current rules and moderator guidance for the exact community. Platform-wide permission does not override a community restriction. If the intended use is unclear, ask the appropriate moderator before posting.
The Reddit Rules address authentic participation and prohibited behavior. Reddit’s ban-evasion guidance also matters: creating another persona does not make a banned return acceptable.
Contribute something that stands on its own
Answer the question with concrete steps, evidence or a useful example. Disclose your affiliation when relevant. Link only when it adds necessary detail and is permitted. A helpful reply should remain useful even if nobody visits your website.
Do not invent a customer identity or manufacture account history to make promotion appear independent. An AI assistant can help organize research or draft an answer for review; it should not fabricate lived experience. Do not coordinate votes or send unsolicited messages merely because someone participated in a discussion.
Respect private context
Membership in a private group is not blanket permission to export conversations, publish screenshots or build a prospect database. Ask for the relevant permission and minimize the data you retain. Share aggregate learning without exposing members’ private circumstances.
For Facebook Groups or another community service, inspect both the group rules and the applicable platform policies in the actual current workflow. This guide does not certify that a particular promotional post is permitted.
Measure learning as well as leads
Record recurring problems, meaningful responses, permitted referral visits and qualified conversations. Dark social describes sharing that is difficult to observe through ordinary attribution; it is not a basis for inventing a percentage of your growth. Use optional discovery questions to add context and preserve the uncertainty.
Compare Reddit with TikTok by the job: a detailed answer in a relevant discussion and a visual demonstration can both be useful, but their denominators differ. Run a small complete experiment before buying a participation tool. Require transparent operator identity and exportable evidence.
