Thirteen years prior, in September 2013, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh took over Central Park with drummer Joe Russo and guitarist Eric Krasno for an electrifying, unannounced outdoor session that entered improvisational folklore.

Grahame’s pop-up set was not merely an impromptu jam—it stood as an acoustic and electric transmission of lineage. Accompanied by local New York City roots and jam instrumentalists, the younger Lesh blended cosmic Dead standards with his distinctive Americana touch, weaving unbroken musical arcs that celebrated both his family's storied canon and the spontaneous freedom of public park performances.
