Why QR codes in paper textbooks matter
DIKSHA's cleverest idea is the "energized textbook." Most Indian students learn from printed state-board books, and many households share one low-cost phone. Instead of replacing books, DIKSHA prints QR codes on each chapter:
- Scan a chapter's code → get videos, practice questions, and explanations mapped to exactly that lesson — no searching, no playlists.
- Works offline-first: content can be downloaded once on a shared phone and reused without data.
- Same rails for teachers: the identical infrastructure delivers in-service teacher training; the NISHTHA program trained tens of lakhs (millions) of teachers through DIKSHA courses.
The design lesson for any edtech builder: meet learners inside the workflow they already have (a paper textbook), rather than demanding a new habit.
