The "Double Barrel" Dilemma

Single-back sets allow defensive coordinators to assign standard gap responsibilities based on flow. When two dynamic backs flank the quarterback, every play creates an instantaneous read-step freeze. Linebackers cannot trigger downhill until the mesh commits, surrendering 0.35–0.50 seconds of lateral leverage.

Defensive Counter-Strategies
