Place mother in an upright knee-to-chest or hands-and-knees position to utilize gravity. Prepare clean towels or clothing beneath her.

Allow spontaneous delivery of buttocks, legs, and torso via maternal pushing efforts. Support infant’s body gently only to prevent falling.

Once torso is delivered, ensure head delivers gently. If head is delayed, create an airway by placing two fingers inside the vagina past the infant's face to form an air pocket.

Check if cord is wrapped around neck. If loose, slip over shoulder. DO NOT CUT THE CORD in an uncontrolled field environment unless EMS arrives with sterile clamps.

Immediately dry infant with warm dry cloth. Stimulate sole of foot if not crying. Place skin-to-skin directly on mother's chest and cover both with dry blankets.
