How Max Won Bahrain Pole & The 2026 Parity Miracle

With 4 different polesitters in the first 4 races of 2026, qualifying margins have shrunk below 0.25 seconds. Here is where the lap was won.

1. Turn 1 & Turn 4 Heavy Braking

Verstappen gains +0.082s over George Russell into Turn 1 by braking 6 meters later from 326 km/h down to 68 km/h. Red Bull's mechanical stability prevents front-locking under the downhill compression into Turn 10.

2. Turn 9-10 Off-Camber Blind Apex

The trickiest corner at Sakhir. While Charles Leclerc suffered a minor lockup costing 0.09s, Verstappen carried 121 km/h through the apex, getting back to 100% throttle 12 meters earlier onto the back DRS straight.

3. High-Speed Flow in Sector 2

Lando Norris and McLaren dominated Turn 6-7 high-speed switchback with exceptional downforce, but paid the penalty with higher aerodynamic drag on the main straight (-3 km/h vs Verstappen's 326 km/h trap speed).
