Official Unified MMA Judging Hierarchy

Judges must evaluate each round in accordance with the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.

1. Effective Striking & Grappling

The primary scoring tier. Heavy legal strikes that cause immediate visible impact or threaten a stoppage take top priority. Takedowns without damage or finishing threats carry diminished value.

2. Effective Aggressiveness

Assessed only if effective striking and grappling are deemed 100% dead even. Moving forward and attempting to finish the fight while delivering offense is evaluated over passive pressure.

3. Fighting Area Control

Assessed only if both prior tiers are completely equal. Dictating pace, ring position, and pinning an opponent to the cage without delivering damage constitutes ring control.
