Free Tech Cert Track Explorer

Cisco Networking Academy, freeCodeCamp, Google and IBM all offer genuinely free, self-paced certificate tracks. Pick a track, click modules to mark them complete, and watch your 3D skill network light up node by node.

Free ≠ low value

Cisco's Networking Academy (skillsforall) issues real completion badges via Credly. Entry certs like "Introduction to Cybersecurity" won't get you hired alone, but they stack: cert → portfolio project → junior role is the proven path.

The 70-20-10 rule of learning

Effective tech learning is roughly 70% hands-on labs, 20% peer discussion, 10% videos/reading. If a course is 100% video, budget double its stated hours to build the same skill through your own practice projects.

Resume placement matters

List certs under a dedicated "Certifications" section with issuer and year — not in your skills list. Recruiters scan for issuer credibility (Cisco, Google, CompTIA) in about 6 seconds per resume.

Beware "free" funnels

Legit free courses never ask for card details. If a "free certification" requires payment info upfront or pressures you with countdown timers, it's a marketing funnel, not education. Verify the offer on the issuer's own domain.
