Despite the perception of ubiquitous global travel, economic and geographical realities mean that roughly 80% to 85% of the human population has never stepped inside an airplane. At any given instant, approximately 1.25 million people are airborne—floating between 9,000m and 12,000m above sea level in the upper Troposphere and lower Stratosphere. This tool models how shift in regional development, income levels, and aviation infrastructure rebalances the elevation distribution of human density.
