Terminal Kinetic Ballistics

Depleted tungsten and dense monobloc penetrators rely on hypervelocity kinetic energy to displace homogeneous armor via hydrodynamic flow rather than chemical blast.

E_k = 0.5 × m × v^2  |  Penetration ∝ L × √(ρ_p / ρ_t)

Line-of-Sight Armor Geometry

Sloped armor increases the effective travel distance required for a projectile to penetrate the hull. High angles also induce deflection and ricochet.

T_effective = T_nominal / cos(θ)

Aerodynamic Drag & Drop

Projectiles decelerate through atmospheric drag, converting kinetic force into thermal dissipation over extended ranges before impact.

F_drag = 0.5 × ρ × v^2 × C_d × A
How does the turret simulation compute target armor penetration?

The engine resolves the collision vector between the incoming projectile and the target's angled armor plate. It computes the effective Line-of-Sight (LOS) thickness based on the relative impact angle. If the projectile's remaining kinetic penetration threshold exceeds the effective LOS thickness, a full catastrophic penetration occurs; otherwise, the round shatters, ricochets, or inflicts superficial armor spalling.

What is the difference between APFSDS, HEAT, and HE-Frag?

APFSDS (Armor-Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot) fires a dense kinetic dart at speeds up to 1,800 m/s with pinpoint penetration against heavily armored tanks. HEAT (High-Explosive Anti-Tank) utilizes a shaped chemical liner that creates a molten copper jet independent of distance falloff. HE-Frag provides high-radius explosive concussion that neutralizes aerial drones, optics, and light tracks.

Can I export the firing session log and ballistics telemetry?

Yes. Every fired shell records its muzzle velocity, kinetic energy, time of flight, impact coordinates, and armor penetration margin. Click the telemetry download button after firing to save the structured JSON proving ground report for external ballistic modeling.
