The four hormones you're watching
The 3D scene shows four rising-and-falling columns, one per hormone, orbiting a central ovary. Their heights track real relative levels across the cycle. Sexual activity is not one of the inputs — the cycle is driven by a feedback loop between the brain (hypothalamus and pituitary) and the ovaries.
FSH
Follicle-stimulating hormone rises early, recruiting ovarian follicles. Released by the pituitary gland.
Estrogen
Made by the growing follicle. Peaks just before ovulation, thickening the uterine lining and triggering the LH surge.
LH
A sharp luteinizing-hormone surge around day 14 causes ovulation — the release of an egg.
Progesterone
Rises after ovulation from the corpus luteum, maintaining the lining. If no pregnancy, it falls and menstruation begins.
Separating myth from evidence
Science: The hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis runs on its own feedback loop from puberty onward. Whether or not someone has had sex does not change FSH, LH, estrogen, or progesterone levels. Peer-reviewed endocrinology finds no such link.
Science: There is no hormone test, physical exam, or anatomical marker that reliably reveals virginity. The WHO and major medical bodies have stated that "virginity testing" has no scientific basis and is a human-rights concern.
Real drivers of hormonal changes include age and puberty, pregnancy and breastfeeding, PCOS and thyroid disorders, significant weight change, chronic stress, intense exercise, certain medications, and menopause — none of which are "virginity."
