Tri-Fold Mechanics & Galaxy S26 Privacy Integration

As reported by Engadget, Huawei's Mate XT2 iterates on early dual-hinge tri-fold architectures by solving one of the largest ergonomic vulnerabilities of massive multi-fold displays: public visual eavesdropping. When fully deployed at 10.2 inches, an ultra-wide OLED creates an enormous viewing zone visible from multiple airplane seats or conference tables.

By embedding an electronically switchable liquid-crystal privacy louver layer (derived from Samsung's Galaxy S26 privacy display advances) directly into the ultra-thin glass stack, the Mate XT2 can narrow off-axis luminance from 160° down to 35° on demand, completely occluding sideways observation while retaining full fidelity for the primary operator.
