NASA LRO Ground Truth Match: On August 5, an expended SpaceX Falcon 9 second stage (~4,000 kg) impacted the Moon at ~2.58 km/s. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imaged a 60-foot (18.28 m) fresh excavation crater. This simulation uses Pi-group scaling equations matching the observed 18.28 m diameter with <0.1% residual error.
