Match Play Dynamics vs. Stroke Play

The "Dormie" Threshold When a team leads by the exact number of holes remaining (e.g. 2 UP with 2 holes to play), the trailing team cannot win outright. The leader is guaranteed at least a halve, and one tied hole closes the match ("2&1" or "3&2").
Foursomes vs. Fourball Risk In Foursomes (alternate shot), mistakes are compounded since a partner must play from the hazard. Prudent iron play to green centers beats erratic hero shots. In Fourball, aggressive birdie hunting is favored because a partner's par acts as insurance.
Order of Play & Psychological Pressure Putting first from distance and holing out puts extreme pressure on the opponent's shorter putt. Conceding short putts early in the match can be used tactically before forcing them to putt under pressure on 16 and 17.
