Solving candidate panic: "Why does Round IV say Betterment?", "Where is the Seat Acceptance button?", and "Must I pay ₹1,000 again?"

Candidate CAP Round IV Portal Telemetry

Official Rulebook Diagnostic & Verdict

Auto-Frozen / Final CAP Allocation Confirmed

Seat Retained & Finalized: No Action Needed on Portal

Under Maharashtra State CET Cell Information Brochure Rule 9(d), candidates who opted for Betterment in Round II/III and paid ₹1,000 SAF already hold an active reservation. Because CAP Round IV is the absolute final CAP round, betterment is permanently exhausted. Your retained seat automatically freezes. The portal will NOT show a fresh "Accept Seat" button because payment and acceptance were already validated.

  • Must Pay SAF ₹1,000? No (Exempt - Already Paid)
  • Where is Button? Disabled by system (Auto-locked)
  • Next Mandatory Step: Download CAP IV Allotment Letter & Report to College physically
  • Reporting Window: Within 3 working days (Strict Cut-off 5:00 PM)
⚠️ Crucial Warning: Even though your seat is auto-frozen, failure to physically report to the allotted institute with original certificates and institute tuition fee will cause your seat to be forfeited to institutional ACAP vacancy rounds!

Institutional Level (ACAP) / Spot Round Simulator

Should you surrender your CAP Round IV seat to participate in College-Level Spot Admissions?

Spot Round Risk Level: HIGH RISK (85%)

At 91.40 percentile, relinquishing an already secured CAP Round IV seat is highly perilous. Spot rounds do NOT guarantee reservations or fee concessions (full Open category fee usually charged) and seats are offered strictly on spot vacancy lists. Safe Recommendation: Take admission in CAP IV, then apply for spot rounds with College Retention Certificate.

Retention Certificate Trick: When you secure admission in CAP IV, the college can issue an official "Retention Certificate" allowing you to show certified copies at institutional spot rounds without surrendering your original seat prematurely!

Frequent CAP IV Dilemmas Answered from Rulebook

Q: "Mera Round IV me Betterment kyu dikha raha hai? Show kyu nahi karta acceptance button?"

A: If your allotment status displays the college from Round II or Round III with "Betterment Retained", it means no choice higher up in your option form had vacancies matching your merit. Because you already accepted that seat previously and paid ₹1,000 SAF, the system auto-freezes it. The "Seat Acceptance" window is closed because you already accepted it. Simply click "Download Allotment Letter" and proceed to the college.

Q: What if I was allotted a completely NEW higher choice college in Round IV?

A: Your previous seat from Round II/III is automatically cancelled and offered to another candidate. Your new college is now auto-frozen. Because you already paid ₹1,000 SAF earlier, you DO NOT need to pay again. You download the new CAP IV Allotment Letter and report to the new college.

Q: What happens to the ₹1,000 Seat Acceptance Fee? Does it go to the college?

A: Yes. The Maharashtra CET Cell automatically adjusts this ₹1,000 against your total academic tuition fee at the final admitted institute. When making the Demand Draft for the institute, deduct ₹1,000 from the college fee schedule.

Q: What happens if I do not physically report by the CAP IV reporting deadline?

A: Under Rule 10(4), your allotment will be permanently forfeited and treated as a non-reported vacancy. You will lose the seat, and your only remaining pathway for engineering will be non-CAP college-level spot rounds without government scholarship benefits.
