Drag the shield to protect the Ordinary Self

Why this game?

"Society bombards us with instructions to be happier, fitter and richer. Why have we become so dissatisfied with being ordinary?"

Each falling bomb is an external demand — a message that who you are right now isn't enough. The Ordinary Self at the centre represents contentment with an ordinary life.

Notice how much effort it takes to keep the bombs away, and how quickly the Ordinary Self's state changes when one gets through. That effort is the hidden cost of the perfectionism trap.

How to play

Drag the shield left and right — or use the arrow keys — to deflect the falling Perfection Bombs labelled Happier, Fitter and Richer before they hit the Ordinary Self.

There is no score and no game over. The game simply continues, like the pressure itself. Your state is saved automatically and restored when you return.

Use Reset to start fresh, or Export State to download a snapshot of your session.
