Step-by-Step Triage & Veterinary Decontamination Protocol
Clinical Protocol #PET-TOX-93Immediately extract animal from toxic enclosure to fresh air. Do not enter confined vapor zone without respiratory protection. Shut off forced-air heat sources.
Perform lukewarm water irrigation (>15 mins) to wash residual hypochlorite from fur and ocular mucosal tissue. Avoid cold water to prevent hypothermia.
Transport under supplemental humidified oxygen. Monitor for delayed pulmonary edema (up to 24 hours post-exposure). Administer bronchodilators as advised.
