PPF Goal Lab

Educational planning calculator

What could it take to build your PPF goal?

Set your assumptions, compare starting ages, and inspect every projected year. Defaults are illustrative and editable; rates and rules can change.

Each cell shows the starting monthly amount required when the assumed rate and target shift. It is a scenario comparison, not a forecast.

How the estimate works

Transparent math, explicit limits

The calculator solves for the first year's contribution using a year-by-year simulation and binary search. Contributions can grow annually, while the selected timing controls how much of each year's contribution receives interest.

1

Project cash flows

Each annual contribution is derived from the starting amount and your annual growth assumption.

2

Apply timing

Start-of-year deposits receive a full year of assumed growth; spread deposits receive half; end-of-year deposits receive none that year.

3

Solve the target

The tool repeats the projection until the final balance closely matches the selected corpus.

closing balance = opening balance x (1 + rate) + contribution x timing factor

Timing factor shown for the selected assumption.

Maturity and extension context

PPF accounts are commonly described with a standard 15-financial-year term and possible five-year extension blocks, subject to the rules in force. In this calculator, "extension years" simply lengthens the mathematical contribution horizon by the chosen five-year blocks. It does not determine whether a specific account is eligible to extend, whether deposits remain permitted, or how a real account's maturity date is calculated.

Important context

Verify current PPF terms before acting

PPF interest rates, eligibility, annual limits, deposit rules, maturity treatment, and extension rules can change. The default rate and cap on this page are editable illustrative assumptions, not guaranteed current terms.
