Tim & Chris Stamper spearhead 'Project Dream', an ambitious fairy-tale isometric RPG using Donkey Kong Country-style pre-rendered graphics for the SNES.

Pivot to Nintendo 64 3D Silicon Graphics
Engineers port the isometric engine to Ultra 64 hardware. The 16-bit hero Edson is replaced with a rabbit, then a bear named Banjo with a backpack bird.

Banjo-Kazooie Releases Worldwide
The Project Dream assets are largely shelved or repurposed, with only Captain Blackeye and environmental nods surviving in Banjo-Tooie and Kazooie.
