Scheffler Shot Lab
Shape draws and fades, control trajectory, and see Strokes Gained vs the field. Built from teammate insights and archive data on what "being Scottie" really means.

Brandt Snedeker's instruction to Scottie Scheffler — "go out and be Scottie Scheffler" — sounds simple. Teammates and archives reveal it's a specific combination of shot-making traits:
- Stock shot is a baby draw. Scottie's 7-iron moves ~5 yards right-to-left with a penetrating 13.8° launch.
- Elite spin control. ~6,800 rpm on mid-irons lets him attack flags and hold firm greens.
- Trajectory manipulation. Can flight it low under wind or high over hazards without changing swing feel.
- Pressure consistency. Sunday 18 at Medinah 2019: 7-iron to 12 feet with the match on the line.
This lab lets you feel those variables. Each shot computes carry, total distance, apex height, lateral curve, landing angle, and Strokes Gained vs. PGA Tour average from that distance.
How to Use
- Pick a preset or dial sliders manually.
- Press Strike Shot — watch the 3D ball flight with tracer.
- Read the launch monitor data: carry, total, apex, curve, landing angle, Strokes Gained.
- Repeat. Build a session. See your patterns.
- Export a CSV + summary when done.
Strokes Gained Methodology
SG Approach uses the PGA Tour baseline: expected strokes to hole out from the starting distance minus expected strokes from the ending distance, minus 1 (the stroke taken). Baseline data from Mark Broadie's Tour averages. Positive SG = better than Tour average. This simulates a 175-yard approach (Medinah No. 3, 7-iron typical).
Physics Model
Ball flight uses a simplified aerodynamic model: lift from backspin (Magnus effect), drag, and side force from tilt axis (shape). Carry integrates trajectory until ground contact. Roll uses a firm-green bounce model (0.35 coefficient). Wind: calm. Elevation: sea level. Temperature: 70°F. This is a simulator, not a launch monitor — use for feel and pattern recognition, not club fitting.
