Choose a job for each format
Use discovery video to introduce a useful idea to unfamiliar viewers. Use a follow-up format to answer questions or deepen a relationship. Stories, Reels and Shorts are different publishing surfaces; do not assume the same reach, shelf life or interaction pattern. Start with the surface your audience uses and the format you can produce well.
A startup can test TikTok for a visual demonstration, Reels for a customer story and Shorts for a concise answer connected to a longer explanation. Those are editorial hypotheses, not platform guarantees. B2B products can be visually useful too; the category alone does not decide the channel.
Prepare an export that survives the interface
A 1080 × 1920 vertical master is a useful production choice, not a guarantee of acceptance or an exclusive required resolution. Keep essential text away from interface overlays, preview captions and check audio on a phone. Export from the original project so platform-specific changes do not compound quality loss.
YouTube’s Shorts guidance covers square or vertical videos up to three minutes under its applicable upload-date rules. Duration, music claims and monetization conditions still need checking. Verify each destination’s current upload requirements rather than applying one platform’s limits to all three.
Test a creative idea, not a superstition
Change a meaningful element such as the opening promise, demonstration order or evidence shown. Keep the offer and intended audience clear. Posting time can be a scheduling variable, but no universal best hour or universal three-month minimum is established here. The time needed to learn depends on volume, variability and the decision being made.
Compare posts at equivalent ages and within the same platform metric definition. Track retention alongside saves, qualified responses or another outcome tied to the content’s purpose. A view is not identical across platforms, and a high completion rate on a very short clip can conceal weak business value.
Use the experiment budget
The calculator turns channels, concepts and variants into a production workload. It is a planning tool, not a statistical power calculator. The example of three channels, four concepts and two variants creates 24 placements; each may require a different export or caption.
Review a small complete batch before expanding. Preserve failed uploads and weak results in the log. If the format does not explain the product clearly, improve the content before opening more accounts. Account status and recommendation eligibility belong in a separate investigation when there is actual evidence of a restriction.
