Padua Solar Optics Workbench

Solar Coronagraph & Eclipse Optical Physics Simulator

Live Ray Trace & Diffraction Field (2D Optics Bench) Drag Occulter / Align Axis
Light Path: Photosphere → Occulter (C1) → Field Lens → Lyot Stop → Focal Detector Occulter Aligned

Controls solar disc alignment and Fresnel edge diffraction.

Primary lens focal length determining coronal scale factor.

Internal light traps to diminish internal reflection stray light.

Controls photon noise integration and CME plasma stream SNR.

Narrow passband suppresses sky continuum noise.

Instrument Response Diagnostics

VAL-READY
Corona Contrast Ratio 1.45e-6 Target: < 1e-5 Photosphere
Stray Light Suppression -58.4 dB Knife-edge diffraction loss
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) 42.1 Poisson photon limit
Plasma Jet Visibility HIGH Fe XIV coronal detection
Diffraction Ring Fringe Intensity: 0.0000014 B_sun
CME Flare Signal Margin: 18.2 dB above noise

Optical Alignment: Padua coronagraph occulting disc disk size (24.5mm) blocks direct sunlight. 4 baffle knife-edges eliminate edge diffraction rings, driving stray sunlight down to -58.4 dB. CME plasma jets in Fe XIV (530.3nm) achieve strong HIGH signal contrast.

Generates spectral calibration curve & spatial radial intensity profile dataset for astrophysics analysis.
