Tesla Light Show USB Specification

Tesla vehicles running firmware 2021.44.25 or newer feature the official Custom Light Show capability. Sequences are compiled into xLights-compatible FSEQ v2 binary files alongside a companion WAV soundtrack.

How to Run On Your Tesla

  • 1 Click Export lightshow.fseq to download your choreographed Halloween sequence package.
  • 2 Insert a standard USB flash drive into your computer and copy the files into a folder named exactly LightShow.
  • 3 Plug the USB drive into your Tesla glovebox USB port (or center console port on pre-2021 builds).
  • 4 In your vehicle touch screen, open Toybox → Light Show. Your custom show will appear with a green checkmark!

Tesla Halloween Show Installation Guide

Tesla vehicles read custom light shows directly from the first partitioned USB storage device attached to the vehicle.

Vehicle Compatibility: Model S (2021+ Refresh), Model 3 (all years), Model X (2021+ Refresh), Model Y (all years), and Cybertruck.

Directory rules:

  1. Folder name must be exactly LightShow (case-sensitive).
  2. Sequence file must be named lightshow.fseq.
  3. Soundtrack must be named lightshow.wav (or .mp3).
  4. Maximum sequence length supported by Tesla MCU is 5 minutes.
