Paleobiological Context (Neuquén Trove)

The largest dinosaurs that ever lived were able to reproduce at high latitudes far from the equatorial thermal belt. Recent troves of titanosaur nests discovered in Patagonia (Argentina) reveal clutches nested directly above Cretaceous hydrothermal fissures and volcanic vents.

Without geothermal supplementation, ambient high-latitude air temperatures (ranging 5°C to 15°C) would cause embryonic hypothermia and failure. Titanosaurs solved this through an evolutionary geo-thermal incubation strategy: deep burial in volcanic ash and loose silt directly intercepting subterranean warmth.
