This laboratory computes 3D ballistic trajectory including Magnus force (lateral ball swerve), goalkeeper reaction latency, and crossbar collision. Keepers anticipate the striker's approach angle; striking across the keeper into the side netting produces significantly higher Expected Goals (xG) than near-post blasts.
How is Expected Goals (xG) computed here?
The model evaluates distance from goal (standard 18-yard box depth), angle relative to the center of the net, goalkeeper lateral positioning, and shot velocity. Hitting the corners yields higher conversion probability than striking directly into the keeper's diving envelope.
