The Anatomy of a Compelling Promo Arc
1. The Cold Hook & Spark (0s - 15s)
Establish high emotional stakes or an unsettling question. Average shot lengths (ASL) hover around 3 to 5 seconds. Sound is atmospheric: sparse drone, distant wind, or a solitary cello stinger.
2. The Escalation & Drum March (15s - 38s)
Characters speak brief, declarative warnings (“War is coming”). Percussion enters at rhythmic half-time. Visual cuts accelerate to 1.5 - 2.5s intervals, intensifying the looming clash.
3. The Rapid-Fire Montage (38s - 50s)
Micro-cuts under 0.8s syncopated to machine-gun drum strikes, sword clashes, or dragon fire. The sensory overload peaks tension to 9+ before an abrupt, total audio dropout.
4. The Breath & Final Stinger (50s - 60s)
Complete silence for 1.5 seconds gives gravity to the final iconic one-liner. Then: a mammoth brass/sub-boom shockwave as the title and release date slam the screen.
