Chart Units Breakdown: Sales vs Premium Streams vs Free Streams

Normalized SEU (Sales Equivalent Units)
How the Official UK Singles Chart Calculates Positions & Ratios
Official Formula:
Chart Units = Pure Sales + (Paid Streams ÷ SCR_Paid_Ratio) + (Free Streams ÷ SCR_Free_Ratio)

1. SCR (Standard Chart Ratio): 100 paid audio/video streams = 1 unit; 600 free ad-supported streams = 1 unit.
2. ACR (Accelerated Chart Ratio): Applied when a track has spent 10+ weeks on chart and experienced 3 consecutive weeks of decline. Streams are penalized by 50% (200 paid = 1 unit, 1,200 free = 1 unit) to foster chart freshness.
3. The 3-Track Cap: A primary artist can have no more than 3 songs in the Top 100 as lead. Even if Taylor Swift tracks hold 8 of the top 10 streaming totals in the UK, only the top 3 by units enter the Official Singles Chart.
Chart recalculated successfully. Taylor Swift holds #1, #3, and #4 as reported.

Why Taylor Swift Charts Exactly Three in the Top 5

On October 3, 2026, pop music tracking accounts highlighted Taylor Swift charting three singles in the Top 5 on the Official UK Singles Chart: #1 Patient Zero, #3 Cleveland!, and #4 Babylon.

Unlike the US Billboard Hot 100 where an artist can occupy the entire Top 10 (as Swift famously achieved with Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department), the UK Official Charts Company implemented the 3-track rule in July 2017 following Ed Sheeran's ÷ (Divide) release, which swamped 16 of the Top 20 singles.

Simulating Album Drops & Campaign Longevity

This simulator implements the precise OCC algorithmic pipeline: separate conversion divisors for premium subscription streams and ad-supported free streams, automatic ranking sorting, ACR toggles, and lead artist cap resolution.

Use the controls to test how changing streaming volumes, turning on ACR for long-running singles, or bypassing the 3-track cap reshapes the UK chart leaderboard.
