The "Wild Side" High Line at Las Vegas
Las Vegas Motor Speedway features progressive 20° banking in Turns 1 through 4. When drivers run against the outside wall (the rim), the car stays loaded longer and generates tremendous exit momentum off Turn 2 and Turn 4, compensating for the slightly longer physical travel distance.
Aerodynamic Dirty Air & Draft Pockets
Trailing within 0.3 seconds in the draft reduces aerodynamic drag, adding up to 7 MPH on the 2,275-foot backstretch. However, upon corner entry, trailing in the leader's turbulent wake removes front splitter downforce, causing high-speed wash-up.
Asymmetrical Tire Fall-Off & Blistering
Due to 20° progressive banking and sustained 2.5G cornering loads, the Right-Front (RF) and Right-Rear (RR) tires bear over 74% of total vehicle weight. Prolonged high-line throttle scrubbing causes temperature spikes beyond 240°F and gradual tenths-per-lap decay.
