Mastering the Anthony Markanich Volley Technique

When an outswinging delivery whips in from the flank—like Bongokuhle Hlongwane's laser delivery across the 18-yard box—a first-time volley requires strict kinetic control. Unlike ground strikes, you must absorb incoming ball velocity, angle the planting foot, and strike across the horizontal equator to avoid skying the attempt over the bar.

This interactive trainer models ball trajectory in 3D: parabolic delivery arcs, Magnus effect curve from winger crosses, striker body orientation, and reactive goalkeeper lateral tracking.

How is the strike outcome calculated?

Your contact timing on the delivery curve determines strike clean-ness. Striking inside the green sweet spot guarantees clean sweet-spot contact. Elevation dictates vertical trajectory (below 0.7m produces a downward bounce volley, while over 1.6m risks clearing the crossbar). Striker angle directs the ball towards goal corners away from the keeper's diving reach.

Cross Presets Explained

Bongi Outswinger: High pace, curling away from the goalkeeper towards the penalty spot.
Deep Back-Post: High apex cross designed for back-shoulder volleys across the face.
Low Driven: Waist-high screamer requiring instant snap technique.
Far-Post Floater: Slower hang-time demanding patient footwork.

Keyboard Shortcuts
