About the U16 Academy Tournament Model
When top international academies conveneโsuch as Barcelonaโs La Masia, Ajaxโs De Toekomst, Manchester City, River Plate, and Boca Juniorsโyouth tournament formats test both tactical identity and stamina across dense match schedules.
This tool seeds 16 clubs into four balanced groups of four. Each group plays a single round-robin (3 matches per team, 6 total per group). The top two in each pool advance to an 8-team single-elimination bracket with extra-time and sudden-death penalty shootout modeling.
Tournament Regulations & Mechanics
Group Stage Tiebreaker Protocol
Standings are ranked strictly by Points (3 for win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss), followed by Goal Difference (GD), then Total Goals For (GF), and finally head-to-head match result.
Knockout Extra Time & Penalties
If knockout matches finish tied after regular time, an extra time simulation is triggered. If still level, a five-kick penalty shootout determines who advances to the next stage.
Exporting and Reproducing Draws
Every simulated tournament can be downloaded as a formatted text summary with match scores, group standings tables, and tournament goal tallies for scouting reports.
