Pre-Consultation Cautionary Guideline
Insurers frequently condition initial settlement disbursements on an irrevocable general release of all future claims, including unknown latent injuries. Review lien subrogation (health insurance / ERISA) and statutory deadlines prior to executing settlement agreements.

Documented Economic Loss & Pre-Consultation Assessment
How does this workbench compute economic loss ratios and aggregate evidence into an attorney consultation brief?
This client-side prep tool tallies documented economic out-of-pocket losses (medical expenses, lost wages, and property damage) and compares them directly against an insurer's settlement proposal. It provides an immediate offer-to-loss percentage and net deficit calculation, logs evidentiary checklist items, tracks chronological milestones, and compiles the inputs into an exportable consultation summary in local browser memory.
The workbench only calculates direct documented economic damages and simple percentage ratios. It does not evaluate non-economic damages (such as pain and suffering), statutory caps, comparative fault reductions, future medical escalations, or subrogation liens from health insurers. The readiness score is a heuristic completeness indicator based on checked boxes, not a certified legal case strength evaluation.
Try a worked example
Under default preset values, enter $14,250 in Medical Bills, $3,200 in Lost Wages, and $5,400 in Property Damage to obtain a Total Economic Loss of $22,850.00. With an Initial Settlement Offer of $12,500.00, the tool calculates an Offer-to-Loss Ratio of 54.7% ($12,500 ÷ $22,850) and an uncovered deficit of -$10,350.00. If Medical Bills are updated to $20,000, Total Economic Loss updates to $28,600.00, the coverage ratio drops to 43.7%, and the uncovered loss expands to -$16,100.00.
Economic Loss vs. Insurer Proposals
The workbench totals three verifiable expense inputs: medical bills, lost wages, and property damage. The ratio displayed represents the fraction of these direct documented out-of-pocket costs covered by an initial settlement offer before factoring in legal representation, expert costs, or non-economic loss.
Evidentiary Checklist and Client-Side Export
Items checked across police records, medical treatment logs, and wage letters populate structured tags in the summary brief. All entries, notes, and timeline nodes remain entirely within client-side browser memory and can be downloaded as a structured JSON object or plain text summary without being transmitted to external servers.

Read the explanation
This consultation workbench organizes entered amounts and documents. It does not decide claim value, legal entitlement, insurer liability or whether a settlement is appropriate. At its hypothetical preset, medical bills fourteen thousand two hundred fifty, lost wages thirty-two hundred and property damage fifty-four hundred sum to twenty-two thousand eight hundred fifty. The offer twelve thousand five hundred divided by that sum is fifty-four point seven percent after rounding. The arithmetic shortfall is ten thousand three hundred fifty. Raising only medical bills to twenty thousand makes the sum twenty-eight thousand six hundred while the offer stays fixed, dropping the ratio to forty-three point seven percent and increasing shortfall to sixteen thousand one hundred. Two bars use point zero two pixels per dollar to show the increasing entered loss and unchanged offer. The ratio is a comparison of entered numbers, not a validated settlement recommendation. Ten checklist boxes track editor-entered document assertions. Eight are checked in the default fixture. Internally the source calculates readiness as eighty times the checked fraction plus twenty when total entered loss is positive. Eight of ten therefore gives eighty-four, zero of ten with positive loss gives twenty, and ten of ten gives one hundred. But updateView discards that changing value for the visible readiness field and always writes eighty-four percent Comprehensive Documentation Logged. Its pill and export also use fixed eighty-four text. The actual checklist counter and evidence tags do change, so they must be inspected independently. These bars show checked records moving from eight to zero and the still-fixed displayed eighty-four on separate labelled scales. Checking a box does not verify that a document exists, and the fixed score cannot demonstrate readiness for a legal decision. With zero total loss the offer ratio is explicitly zero even if an offer is entered; that is a code guard, not evidence of no recovery. The workbench also manages questions and timeline milestones. Adding a question appends literal text; its remove button deletes the selected item, and the consultation brief mirrors the current list. Saving a milestone appends its date, category, title and description but does not sort by date. A newly entered earlier date therefore stays last. The reset button restores the saved fixture, amounts, questions, milestones and initial checkbox states. Actual JSON downloads include current incident fields, arithmetic, priorities and timeline. The clipboard summary includes incident fields, economic numbers and questions but omits the timeline and individual checkbox states. Both retain the fixed readiness or recommendation text from source, which is not legal validation. If the offer exceeds entered loss, the numerical ratio can exceed one hundred percent while the visual ratio bar clamps at one hundred; displayed uncovered loss clamps at zero but the exported net shortfall remains negative. This local verification tests the original native controls and export differences without sending any report.
