Calculate units before making a rank claim
Does passing the page’s threshold establish a Billboard number one?
This model combines entered album sales, a supplied blended-stream conversion and track-equivalent units. Its rank bands come from fixed authored thresholds, not the competing releases for a chart week. The named release preset is a supplied scenario, not an independently verified debut.
Premium and ad-supported streams are not separated by the existing input. The blended divisor therefore cannot reproduce the current official tier calculation from a total stream count alone. Eligibility, reporting period, territories and competing titles are not checked. The rank label and memo are illustrative.
Try a worked example
Reset to the supplied default. Track sales of 42,000 divided by 10 give 4,200 TEA units. The page’s assumed stream conversion produces 60,130 SEA units; adding 12,500 album sales gives 76,830 modeled units. That passes its authored 70,000 comparison threshold, but does not establish an actual number-one debut. Change track sales to 10,000: TEA becomes 1,000. Download CSV to preserve the inputs, results and scope note.
Keep track sales and streaming tiers distinct
Luminate’s current documentation gives one album equivalent for ten digital song sales, 1,000 premium streams or 2,500 ad-supported streams. Its older streaming ratios differ, so state the method’s period. A hypothetical one million premium plus 2.5 million ad-supported streams yields 2,000 SEA units. The page’s single stream total does not contain that tier split. Luminate: equivalent weighting and methodology
Separate a comparison threshold from a forecast
The page maps modeled totals to rank bands using fixed cutoffs. Those cutoffs are scenario assumptions; another release with higher eligible units could change the actual ordering. Use the controls to explore arithmetic sensitivity, then compare actual same-period eligible data before asserting a chart position.
Read the export with its assumptions
The CSV preserves raw counts, modeled units, mix percentages and the authored rank band. Its scope row identifies the blended-stream and rank assumptions. The memo carries the same limitation. The named preset and streaming blend remain supplied fixtures; neither is validated by correcting the track divisor.
