The first Norwegian-born prince in 567 years (since Olav IV in 1370). Succeeded his father Olav V in 1991, took the ancestral motto "Alt for Norge" (All for Norway), and famously married commoner Sonja Haraldsen in 1968 after a steadfast nine-year courtship.
