Each deal is evaluated on four dimensions:

• Discount depth — Sale price vs. original (and vs. typical street price when provided)
• Cost per day — Net cost (sale price minus trade-in) divided by ownership days
• Trade-in retention — Percentage of sale price you recover later
• Value score — Weighted blend favoring deeper discounts, lower daily cost, and better retention

Manufacturers' "original" prices are often aspirational. The typical price field lets you enter what the item actually sells for day-to-day. When provided, discount depth is calculated against typical price for a more honest picture.

A $200 discount on a $1,000 item kept for 2 years with $300 trade-in costs $0.68/day. The same item with no trade-in costs $1.10/day. This tool makes that visible so you can compare across categories.
