Does rising volume prove rising strength?

No. Volume reflects total loaded repetitions. Estimated 1RM emphasizes load and repetition count in one set. One can rise while the other falls, so the ledger preserves both signals.

Is a lower session automatically a setback?

No. It may be a planned deload, fatigue management, changed technique, or incomplete data. The calculator reports the mathematical direction and does not infer intent.

Can the estimate prescribe a safe maximum?

No. Epley is a formula-based estimate, not a measured maximum, coaching decision, or medical recommendation. Use it as one comparison signal within consistent logging conditions.
