Album Unit Forecaster & Billboard 200 Simulator

Calculate weekly Equivalent Album Units (EAU) across Pure Sales, Paid Streaming (SEA-1), Ad-Supported / Video (SEA-2), and Track Sales (TEA). Benchmark chart positioning against real Billboard 200 cutoff distribution tiers and forecast 52-week RIAA milestone decay curves.

Official Chart Equivalency Ratios & Estimation Mechanics

Billboard 200 calculations follow the post-2018 multi-tier streaming framework implemented by Luminate (formerly SoundScan) in collaboration with the RIAA:

Streaming Tier Split (SEA)

Paid subscription audio streams (Spotify Premium, Apple Music, Tidal) require 1,250 streams to equal one album unit. Free ad-supported audio (Spotify Free) and programmed/video streams (YouTube official videos) require 3,750 streams per album unit.

Track Equivalent Albums (TEA)

The TEA ratio converts individual digital track sales from the album into album unit equivalents. Exactly 10 digital track downloads (e.g. via iTunes or Amazon Music) count as one album unit on the Billboard 200.

RIAA Milestone Thresholds

Cumulative units determine US certifications: Gold (500,000 units), Platinum (1,000,000 units), and Multi-Platinum at each subsequent million increment. Streaming units retroactively count toward lifetime award eligibility.
